1868 'Hail Columbia' Coverlet...
This coverlet is quite dramatic... It has 'Columbia' herself, in every inner corner, with a banner, that reads "Hail Columbia", with the date 1868, just under the building... It has a few dark spots, on the 'red' side, that is only in the red wool, and doesn't blend into the white wool... so it must have been in the red, from day one, not a later stain... It must be seamed, because it has a mirror immage... I can not see a seam. I thought it could be connected with the Columbia Worlds Fair, but is about 30 years too early... I believe it to be American, and all the flags look like ours... I love it, and it is in very good condition.
