This Motto....always seems so comforting, to me....I have many now, in my Bedroom.... One man, at What Cheer, had all three of these....and a bag full of  Civil War era tin type cases....with tin types, and ambreotypes....I bought them all...

I found some interesting...unusual smalls, yesterday...

it was a good afternoon!

The End of the Day...Shots...

I was done, around 6, or so... had a great time... found some fun stuff.... there is a lot of cool stuff at What Cheer...you never know what you will find! From the 1.00 per Item Folk... to Creative Gals...with Fun Stuff...{I always find cool stuff, with these Gals!}

Dan...{Jo-Dans}...held the door....at his booth... I was the last one out....Dan and Jo do a 50% off booth, here at What Cheer....and sell Loads...It's a great place for a beginning Collector, to start! If you visit with folks like Dan...they are always happy to share their knowledge...you can learn A LOT!!!

I shot this...as I was leaving....there were a lot of vendors... for August....considering the Heat had been so bad...It's much cooler now.... They all buttoned up, around 5, or so.... rain was coming....not bad...just a little... It should be a great day, today... and Tomorrow!

What Cheer...{o.k. boys...I know I looked a little ruff...but really...}

I burst out laughing this morning...when I saw this image...of The Lehman Boys...{left}{John and David}...and Jeff...We had been joking and b.s. ing....then...when I snap a picture of them...they look like they just saw Big Foot! {well.... I guess they kind of did!} {I'm still laughing!}

I have known all of these Boys...well...forever...John, and brother Dick, were Auctioneers, at the Walker, Iowa Sale Barn....our family would go all the time, to the Livestock Auctions....since I was a baby... David has been in the Antiques...forever...so I know him best...Love David...he is such a Kind Soul....has helped me tie down the Ford...many times....he's climbed to the top...a time or two...and scrounged rope, when I ran short...and needed another ten feet...to hold that last minute purchase! I remember a COLD night...at a Farm Sale...the Little Ford's starter....finally said 'no'.... David squeezed under it....and kept tapping the starter...until it hit...whew...we about froze....what a Sweet Heart!

Then, there's Jeff....he is also a Sweet Heart... {I'm so happy for him! He and his Lovely Wife, Nicole...are expecting! A Perfect Family....Sweeet!}

Jeff and I go way back, as well... He always works so hard, at the business....he and Nicole, have two stores, now in Cedar Rapids..."The Fun Shop"...is one of Liz's Favorite Places...{I'll have to get in there and get some images!}

So...this image...by no way captures how Fun...these Boys are....but...It truly made my day....

Ahhh...The Barefooted Queen...in What Cheer...

Had a great day....Shopping....but...mostly visiting...with friends.... I wore my 'Larry the Cable Guy'.....Flannel...with the sleeves cut off....rolled up blue jeans...and was barefooted...most of the day...{blew out the flip flops...oh dear...} It was Great seeing everyone...Lynn...Lea...Chery...Sheryl...David...Jeff...Dan....Dale...Aletha...Stephanie...George....Cathie ...Bill...{this girls art}....Sheri....Gary....and...a Very Sweet Lady Bug! Cindy!.....Oh Yeah...Sweet, Pat....and some new folk, as well...a Lovely Day...{I forgot Barb H. Elaine and Erica! {Sisters Garden} They just had a Beautiful Wedding, at the Store....I can't Wait to see the Images!}
A Late day....But...I found an Amazing mid 1800's Cupboard....that simply would not let me walk away....{really}I know I sound crazy...when I say this....but...I gotta tell ya...some of these old cupboards... truly won't let me walk away....{actually...I walked away...twice.... but kept coming back....the price, was holding my hands.... finally...I said....to the owner..."I Love this Old Cupboard....I will offer this.... then...I'll walk away.... It's what I can afford...and the best I can do....at least...I did my best...and will understand, if it's not good enough..."...Turns out....my offer was good enough....and I thanked them.... The Cupboard is home....
I had Angels riding with me....at the end of the day...I bought a Gnarly old Rocker.... after driving about 60 miles...I realized...the rocker had moved....and probably did.....a long way back.....I stopped the truck...just short of home....to find the rocker...held by NOTHING....except.a hook...at the end of a ratchet strap.....hooked onto a piece of the old seat....it was a Miracle....and...I had just...knocked on wood....about never losing anything, on a load....with David Lehman...just before I took off....from What Cheer...{I'm so glad I knocked on that 2x4....oh my....}
I will have images in the Morn....
Steph invited me for a Gin and Tonic....after supper....and now...I'm ready to Sleep...

What Cheer Bound! {and a tribute to the'American Queen'...}

I'm headed to Southern Iowa...to What Cheer Flea Market....
I should have maybe went yesterday...but...I really didn't feel the need to....{if something is there with my name on it...it will still be there, today!}{ahhh....I don't always feel this way...sometimes...I just KNOW I have to be there! today.....not so much.... } It will be fun, as always.... I was surprised and delighted that my Missouri Friends, popped in the shop, yesterday! They are so Sweet! They are also headed to What Cheer, today...!
Liz and Katie are having a Yard Sale...so I took them some lunch, and played with the Babe's for a while....what Little Melters!
Then, last night made a delivery, to Steph....{stephanie brandenberg studios} and got a preview of her latest fabric and quilt designs! Wow!
It's always fun visiting Steph...and watching her juggle, even a few more pins, than me...It's quite an art form, in itself...keeping them all in the air! As busy as she was...she insisted on making us pizza...{I was good...with letting my fingers do the walkin'...delivery....is just fine with me!} She wouldn't hear of it....she even sent one home for John....what a Woman.....

What an Old Darling....Love...Love...Love...The 'As Found'...way about...this Old Gal... The wall paper, matched the Old House's 1930's Kitchen Wall Paper....it stays....

This Cupboard is large...but manageable.... around 7 feet tall...and wide...two pieces.... so it could go in most any house.... It has layers of Old White Paint....it stays...

A Beautiful August Morning....in Iowa {Gold Rush Update!}

Polly and I took our morning stroll....it was Lovely.....the humidity is down a bit.... the Sun is Shining....

It's All Good....

I just picked up these Gnarly Vintage Lawn Chairs....{I was happy to find these...I have been Sold Out....{these are on hold....for a couple days...}  the one, in my Herb Garden Cupola Top....is a keeper.... I love everything about it...

 Polly and I picked tomatoes....and a few herbs, for breakfast....I sipped on an Iced Coffee....and started clicking, in my brain...what's going to Gold Rush....

It's going to be an Amazing Load....some things, I haven't shared....I want to have a few Surprises! {We may be bringing two trucks....} Peg is coming with....and bringing her Amazing  Decorated Gourds....come meet the Artist! and take a few home, with you!

Remember...it takes me all day Friday, to set the booth...so make plans to stay over... Lynn and Lea, from Southern Iowa, will be bringing treasures, as well.... we will be adding new stuff, on Saturday!

We will all be going to Michael's,{on Broadway, Downtown, Rochester!} for Supper, on Saturday Night...Hope you will join us...it's always a Fun Time!!!!{a few of us may sneak over Friday Eve, as well!}

I have a long list, today.... so better get Snappin!

Home Sweet Home....

We got the truck unloaded...and were ringing wet...by 11, this morn...They said the heat index was 107, here...and 120, in Southern Iowa.... oh my....I grocery shopped... and stayed inside.... it's 8:30, and still...nearly 90 out.... enough....
I snapped these images...of the Jungle.... the other morn....around the Rabbit Hole.... Weeds...some scoff.... I Like 'em! Some are absolutely Beautiful...when they flower...the Butterflies...are swarming around them....
Think Polly and I are going to hit the sack...and put in Gone With the Wind.... It's been a while since I watched it....I'm due for a 'Scarlett' fix....
Stay Cool....and take care of the Critters...and Older Folk....

The Journey...so much...in a couple hundred miles...{oh my...}

A Great Day!

Started at 7...this morn... hit the road runnin'... my Gal Pal...Gail H., had sent me info on a Big Dawg Cupboard.....{thanks...my sweetest friend...}so... I called the Man...{Victor...}who was the owner... and tho...my Friend, Lynn, from Central Iowa, had set a time for us to meet...in lower, central, Iowa...I juggled the two trips...into one... it was great...I so enjoyed the visit with Victor...{my first stop...}We came to an agreement...on price...then...we busted our butts...getting the Old Gal....out of the old house....Victor was awesome....We visited for sometime... What a kind man... a Good Man...I so enjoy this part, of my Journey...I always say...it's about the people...

It Is...

After we got the Big Dawg, loaded...I headed South...and hooked up with Lynn...He had some gnarly treasures...we loaded...and reloaded...we were both sopping wet, with sweat...I refused to turn the air on, in the Ford...'til after all was loaded...and my day, was done...I knew...if I was in air, today... it would be all over....I can take the heat....I can't take going in and out.... So...by the time we had everything loaded...strapped...and re strapped.... {around 2:30} I was ready to collapse.... I was soaked... filthy.... and...exhausted.... Thankfully...the Ford has an Amazing Arctic Blast.... for an air conditioner! {I was actually light headed...whew...it was Bad...out there...{86, at 9:30, this morn....mid 90's, this afternoon...{heat index, well over a hundred...and the humidity...well...it hung in the air...you could not only feel it...you could See it....all day...

I told Victor... as we were standing by the Ford...this morn, with sopping wet shirts...after loading the Big Dawg..."Just think...Rich Folks...pay Money to Sweat Like this...." He got a hearty Laugh! {wonder what he thought...when my shoes came off...and I was barefooted...on the other end of the Big Dawg!...actually...he said, he thought I was a Pretty Hard Worker...! I appreciate that...}

It was a Great Harvest Today! A Wonderful Old Cupboard...straight out of the house, it originated from...{love that!} a gnarly, tall Work Bench...with tons of drawers... A Lovely French Style Bed...wowza! a sweet Child's table... a Cool Little Cupboard... 4 Gnarly Lawn Chairs...and...

Great People...Who could ask for anything more?!

{actually...something more, did happen.... as Lynn and I were on the street...loading the gnarly metal chairs....a man came driving up, pulling a Stock Trailer.....asked Lynn...if he wanted more metal chairs.....I kept tieing down the load....Lynn had told him, yes... so...the man left, then came back, with 2 more... then he came walking up to me, and asked what I was buying.... and looking for...he would sure like to sell me some stuff.... I steered him back to Lynn....I told him...I buy from Lynn...so, whatever he has to sell...Talk to him....and...thanked him....

 Then...the man, introduced himself to me... and reached his hand out, for a shake....... Talk about a Small world.... I Knew the man....from the Horse business....when I was a Child.... he was a 'Kill Buyer".... I reminded him...of those days... ahhh... he got a smile on his face....from all the memories...I could see churning in his brain...until....I said...yep...I had your bidding number...and 3 others, on my list...{which we both recited...} that if, one of my horses sold to...it was an automatic..."NO SALE"...

Bless his heart....

I didn't recognise him.... he said, he didn't recognise me, with my shades on....which...I left on....I told him...he wouldn't, anyway...I was a kid...12 to 16, years old...but...I will never forget him { and the others, with Cattle Prods, loading the horses onto Semi Trailers....} that may be why I am a Vegetarian....

he said...you won't be eating any Horse meat...then will ya..

ahhh...nope...{a smile...and a shake of the head...}

I told Lynn...after the man left... how my temper could be, when it came to situations like these...not so long ago....but thinking about it now...how small the man, seemed today...in more ways than one...{he seemed like a Giant...when I was young...} Bless his heart.... Another step, on my Journey... Another time...another place...I could have taken him....down...to the ground.... but...God knew that....and, chose, this....way...Way.... out of that World... totally...by chance...meeting...today...and honestly...I feel sorry, for the man...I truly do....

{I had to call a friend, on my way home that also knew this man...way back...we discovered that, several years ago...she used to be good friends with him...way back...{we respectfully agree, to disagree on this topic...}she defended him... she is a HUGE 'specific' animal lover... she said this man only sent the ones to kill, that were old...or couldn't be tamed....so...I asked her, which ones, of her beloved critters...that were old...and unruly...she would send to Kill...OOOOPS!!! I'm Bad....{it's that 'walking in another's shoes'...thing....}

On The Road....Again!!!!

It's gonna be a Hot One....I'm making a Big Circle...through the Central part of Iowa.... hundreds of miles... Lot's of Treasures....heading home....Gold Rush will be a Good One!!! You won't want to miss our booth!!! {Graham North...and PEG IS COMING....Maybe LIZ...And MISS.SCARLETT...Allyson...and, maybe Amy! Whew!} Dan, Jo...{Jo-Dans} and Dale popped in, late in the afternoon....yesterday...Dan and Jo, took us out to Supper...at Leonardo's... {next time...IT'S ON US!!!!} {and Thank You...for the good time!} I'm kinda diggin' this being open on Sunday Afternoons....I keep pretty busy....I was up early, weed whipped...mowed....and looked like a drowned rat....by 9 a.m.{hot...hot...hot...whew...and hotter, today...not looking forward to loading in this heat...oh my....}
It was great seeing the Fun Folk, from Southern Iowa...and the nice new couple...that now are watching the blog! Sweet! I got the shop vacuumed...and rearranged...after a couple pieces found their way, to new homes.....Alice and Susie popped in...what a pair of Darlings! In a Nutshell...a very nice day...{hot...brave souls...meandering...in the shop...oh my...they were making little fan's out of  sheets of paper...guess you really get the idea, of Old Ways... when walking through a building with no air...then sitting outside..in the shade...! Doesn't really get better than that....Sunday....Breeze...Shade.... Visit...Friends...Old...and New....It's all GOOD!}
