The 'Lone' Moving Sale...

On Friday, as I was headed home, from picking up treasures, in Marion, I decided not to take the Hiway, and go through town... I have put over a thousand Hiway miles on, in the last week, and wanted to slow down a bit... It was around 3:00, and I was toolin' towards C.R., and stumbled across a 'Moving Sale', sign... I thought, what the heck... It was way out, in the sticks, in a fairly modern home... I asked the guy running the sale, if he'd been busy... He said, "Between 7 and 9, he was swamped! Being the only sale, in town"... I figured, there wouldn't be much left... But, who cares... it was a fun stop... I told him what I was searching for, and to my surprise, he had a darling old birdbath! He took me out to his sheds, and we dug around... then walked back, into the garage... I looked across the tables, and right in front of me, was an early {1870's} Bell jar... I walked over, to it, and saw the wonderful hand applied finial, and asked... "where did this come from..." I had already scoped out the garage... I must have missed it, the first time around... Nope... His wife, was bringing out loads of stuff... I couldn't believe it! I have never been able to buy, one of these old jars... they can be pretty pricey! I asked her how much, she told me, well, it's an old one... And gave me a sweet price! I was thrilled! Sometimes, I guess it pays, to be late... Barb C.
