Sooooo...
Incredibly...
Good...
to be
Home.
: )
{Started writing this yesterday. ; ) }
Enjoyed spending time... with Pal, Allyson, and The Gold Rush 'Family'.
<3
Great...
seeing
Dear...
Old... Friends,
<3
{customers}
and...
Meeting, 'making'... New 'Friends',
'introduce'
New Folks...
to a tiny snippet of
The Rabbit Hole.
; )
{Soulful... Insanity}
<3
This... Gold Rush, was Tuff, for many.
oh dear.
Many... changes to Gold Rush, this May.
Kae... the Wonderful Promoter,
was put in a very ugly place, that... few can understand.
Been there, myself.
Kae, and her Husband, Richard... oh my, they, in my opinion, did
Everything... they possibly could for 'Gold Rush', with the 'Cards' they were dealt,
by the owner's 'government' of half of the fairgrounds.
{my... opinion, with the facts I've heard.}
I've had many sleepless nights, lately...
So... Much going on, everywhere...
on most every level,
for...
Many.
{Had a few... 'Deep' conversations with Folks...
at the
'Gold Rush Mini Rabbit Hole',
during the show.
Allyson, stepped into a couple of the 'conversations'.
She asked me how long I'd known these people... after they went on their way.
: )
Just... met 'em.}
; )
Yep.
Everyone...
Everyone...
has
a
'Story'
<3
Old... Old, Cupboard's...
do, too.
; )
Sunday mornings, at Gold Rush...
are very, very... slow,
until... Church is out.
<3
I've always done my 'Rabbit Hole' shopping, over the years...
early Sunday mornings, at Gold Rush.
: )
tho...
I hadn't sold well, some habits die hard.
; )
Told Allyson, she should Shop... and, I was gonna do the same.
'Visit'... with The Gold Rush 'Family'...
mostly.
<3
I'd been through the Huge Gold Rush Arenas... several times Thursday... and Friday,
hunting risers... and something for us to sit on.
Gads!!
{Loading out... at Home, for Gold Rush.... was a mess.
{Grateful... for Pal, Dale... and his Ford Sprinter. : ) }
Had to leave so much behind, this time.
: (
Not....
how I roll.
{Go BIG... or, Stay Home.}
{not one word...
Gail. <3}
Gotta Have My Beloved Workhorses...
<3
'Trucks'...
in
Running Order.}
Period.
As I walked through the Sunday Morning Gold Rush...
'quiet',
visited with several...
Gold Rush 'Family' members.
<3
then...
stumbled across a booth I hadn't noticed.
The Lady, was selling everything in her booth for half price.
She was downsizing her home... moving, to a much smaller home.
She, and her Husband had been stationed in Europe, so... most everything she had was European.
Lovely.
but...
unless it's
French,
{sometimes... Italian.}
When it comes to Textiles... Rugs, Fabric... well...
Really Dig, Early...
Handmade Rugs
from
the
Middle East, and Asia. <3 }
most...
'European' isn't my style.}
{Who am I kiddin'?
Hahahahahahaha!!
I Love 'Old'... 'Soulful'... 'Handmade'.}
Period.
I am.... kinda stuck in a rut.
: )
Early Iowa... Midwest... 'Farm'...
Worn... Gnarliness, or...
Goopy... Fringed... Prismed... Lace,
and...
Victorian...
Worn Velvet.
<3
Worldwide...
it seems,
'Soulfulness'.
; )
After leaving the Lady's...
Lovely European booth,
{bought a Cool... Barn Lantern from her. <3}
Stepped into the next booth,
was looking at the table displays...
then, looked up.
Oh My Lord.
<3
: )
Next to me... Stood a BIG Farmhouse...
Corner Cupboard.
I've been so far... out of the loop, 'These Days'...
'Years'
{Fairfax, and IDOT}
I can't hunt, and gather... like I used to.
but...
when
I bumped into...
The Old...
Massive, Corner Cupboard, above...
oh my.
Took my fingernail... and scratched a tiny fleck of black paint
off of the original 1880's Robin's Egg...
Blue.
<3
The Old.... Corner Cupboard was priced so well, then... it had been reduced, even more.
then...
the Girl who owned it, gave me an even Better price.
Exactly what she'd paid for it, at the Western Wisconsin...
Sale, she and her Hubby had bought it at, recently.
I.... had no business buying it.
No Room.
but...
oh dear.
: )
They agreed to haul the Old... Corner Cupboard to our booth.
: )
It's a two piece, so... not horrible to move.
As soon as they set the Old... Cupboard up, I grabbed an old butcher knife, from a stack I'd brought to sell...
and began scraping.
: )
Like a Fiend!!!
Hahahahahaha!!!!
{The scraping sound was Echoing Through The Entire Graham Building!!
GADS!!
But...
I Couldn't STOP!!!
Said to Allyson, when I was done...
{took me about two hours}
"Wonder how Many... Dealers, came up to the Simply Iowa booth, prepared to
tell me to Knock That Scraping Noise OFF!!!
until they saw me
Fiendishly Wielding the Big... Old... Sharp....
Butcher Knife.
: )
oh...
dear.
<3
The above image... doesn't Even Come Close, to How COOL....
The Old Corner Cupboard turned out.
<3 <3 <3
It has three color's of paint.
The original... from the 1880's, is
Blue.
The second coat... was probably done, in about 1920.
White.
Shortly after the first pandemic.
It was the rage to go White, for cleanliness.
The inside still sports the Creamy White, where most cooking oils, and smoke... from woodburning stoves...
didn't penetrate the paint.
The outside paint, that would've been Creamy White, actually... looks more Butterscotch, from the environment that surrounded it.
Then...
I'd guess, between 1940, and '60... came the
Black.
Could've taken it down to the original Blue, but....
it would've been a much more tedious task.
It can still be done, just not by me.
The Butterscotch paint is holding very tight, to some of the Blue.
A solvent will most likely be needed to go completely back to only Blue.
Myself... I TRULY Love... seeing All of The Cupboard's Surface History.
<3
It's Amazing!!
<3
Steel wooled the surface, after scraping.
It's smooth as silk.
<3
; )
Pal, Gail... sent me the above, the other day.
; )
That Girl!!
; )
<3
Heading to a Fairfax council meeting, in a bit.
oh my.
Needles in my Eyes.
: (
They're discussing the West Cemetery Road Bridge project.
{that bridge adjoins the North side of our land.}
It'll be 'interesting' to hear what the hired engineer is charging Fairfax for that
'project'.
oh my.
I... believe it'll be Stout. Very.
: (
Heard recently, he wants to charge us... Pretty Stout, for
'Public Records'...
Again.
WOW!!
: (
Fairfax JUST hired a City Administrator, about 6 months ago.
Seems, he's 'resigned'.
That's on the agenda, tonight... with his 'severance' package.
Big One.
Wow.
; )
just...
wow.
Love to Ya...
Prayers for All.
