Ain't Like Mama's Chicken....

I watched Martha, a while back... she had some Girls on, cookin' chicken... They soaked it in a brine..{overnight..} seasoned...then rolled in flour...then fried...in oil...{they recommended peanut oil} so... I picked some chicken up... tho...I rarely eat meat, I thought I'd fry it up for John... and did, this afternoon... before I head out, on the road....
I gotta tell ya... It ain't Mama's Chicken! It's very tender... but...very salty...{I even rinsed it before I rolled it in flour...} It will pass... but... I'll go back to my Mom's recipe... { buttermilk...seasoned flour...brown in lard ... then turn down the heat...  cover, and let cook slowly... mmm....mmm... } {drain grease... save the pan crispies...for GRAVY.....Oh Baby....That's Mama's Chicken...Iowa Style... not New York City....Style... ahh to each his own!}
A Late Night....
Love to ya!

OMG That looks amazing!!! I love fried chicken. I always thought they should make chickens with more skin and less meat. The crispy outside is my favorite (and I know the worst for me) but sometimes ya gotta splurge!!
Have a great day!!!

Hey Amy Girl!
Well... You can come on over, with the girls..for Fried Chicken...Too!!!...{I already have your beverage of choice, in my Nashville suitcase! Oh Dear!}
I used to love the skin, the best..too... my Sister, Chery, who never weighed more than 90 pounds.... also LOVED The SKIN...and Dark Meat....Only! {all of us girls are that way...}Chery never could make Fried Chicken, like Mom... I'm pretty good at it...of course...I don't remember the last time I weighed 90 pounds... when it comes to cooking... or anything, I treat as an art form...I get my hands, or taste buds, right in there... I wind up covered in my project... may it be...lard...or paint...oh dear..{the paint washes right off... the lard...well... not so much...}
Hope you can make it to the Garden Party...{all of you Gals!} April 8 and 9...6-9!}
Love to ya!

~♥yum.yum. mom always had fried chicken on sundays! gravy, smashed potatoes...summer had the fresh tomatoes with corn on the cob, with the fresh chickens she raised. {had to freeze them, tho, to make sure they were good & dead!} but g'ma used to butcher them & we singed them, can still smell the newspapers & wet feathers! soo glad the fried chicken smell outweighs the wet hens smell...been drinking a big glass of milk out my lovely glass. Bill commented that it was kinda fancy for a glass of milk, said, yep..mebbe it was a fancy cow! =) put me on the list for the chiken!loveya friend! with many hugs & blessings, vikki♥~

Hey Vikki!
I drink out of those wonderful old stemmed glasses, all the time... Everything tastes just a little better out of them!
And...yes... my folks used to butcher... and the smell of the singed feathers, is something one never forgets...along with the running headless chickens... wonder how many people would eat meat, if they had to butcher themselves? I'd say....not many....
Take care sweet pea!
Love to Ya!
