Just a Closer Walk... I'm Headed South...

It's funny... When Angels with 2x4's start swingin', one can only duck, for so long... I ran into another dealer, the other day... She went on and on, about my little shop... How many she sends my way... "Some, well, they really don't like your store...Oh... but I do"... Then I get to thinkin about, how many, probably say the same thing...{ very hollow} The lady I visited with, kept saying all sorts of things, then, sugar coated them...very sweet... I guess I am naive... I look for the good in folks... I admire what they do... especially, when their work represents, who they are...I always try and help other folk, in the business... Maybe, I'm just too thin skinned... Maybe, well, I need to be... I am, who I am... and the little shop... well.. it is, what it is... I need to find comfort... from someone, who loves me, just the way I am...Never judges... So... I'm jumpin' in the truck... headed South... Talk with the Lord, and have a closer walk, with Thee...I have found out, in recent years... people, are rarely what they seem...How sad... You never know, who has the knife, and who has your back...{ and... you will be surprised, by some... you really thought, had your back...}God Bless, the True at Heart....And... my prayers are with the Hollow Souled Ones... I'll sort this out... Yes... I'm smilin'...Pressed on all sides... but not crushed... Barb C. {Isn't Patsy Great... I love singing her songs...}

Don't let it steal your joy, your excellent at what you do, and some people just don't understand our stuff, and some people can say exactly the wrong thing at the wrong time. It's a beautiful summer day in Iowa enjoy. Tammy

ohmy!! Please don't change your store in any way, 'cept to put more treasure in it. My friend Lin and I visited last year and we're coming again this year just so we can spend more time in your store. See ya in Sept.

It's the "left handed" comments that get ya, I think. Like: Oh, it's nice, if you like that sort of thing. or I think you guys do a great job, for what you have to work with. WHAT? Um, thanks. If you are going through hell, keep on moving...that's my motto.

"Civilians" don't have a clue how hard we work or that we have feelings. I am shocked at some of the things customers say to me or within earshot. Thank goodness most people are wonderful, but there are a few not so wonderful. . . that's life!

Thanks for sharing your life and thoughts.

Your store is the best in the Midwest..... possibly the best in the Universe!

Sorry you have things bothering you right now. Hope today is a better day & hope it's cooler there then here. People aren't always what they profess to be but I promise, I am. One of the good things about getting older is that it's easier not to worry about things others say. Take care! Jan

The second I was blessed enough to have stumbled down your rabbit hole it was like finding home. Probably a strange description but I struggle how to describe the impact your store had on me and the peaceful feeling that overcomes me every time I pull up to the store. - Laura A

I'm a little naive too, but I think that beats being cynical all to heck.

There's a gal in the same antique mall as me who used to strike up a convo if she saw me working my booth. At first I kind of enjoyed her attention because she's a very talented vendor. Then I started to realize that there was a pattern. She would feign interest in details of my selling and then when she saw an opportunity to one-up me-Zap! This happened one too many times.

I've since moved out of her area so I don't see her as much. But from now on I'm going to discourage any conversations and get back to business.

When we have to deal with difficult people in our work, the passive aggressive types are often the worst. But the upshot is that we don't run into those folks very often because junkers are usually well, special!

I discovered your blog awhile back and I'm hooked. -Laura from MO
