Cemetery Tour....

It was quite interesting, we had a wonderful tour guide, Gwen, who's family has lived in New Orleans, for four generations....It was very informative, and fun...We learned about Voo Doo, and visited a Voo Doo Priestess' home... Oh my.... It's interesting how they bury people, above ground, due to the water table and bury multiple folks, in one tomb... They have to wait one year, and one day, before they can add another person, to a family tomb... If there was an epidemic, and several people died, days or weeks apart, they have a 'holding tomb', then after one year, and a day, another member can be added... The tombs are like an oven.... They can get up to several hundred degrees... kind of like a crematorium...
Marie Laveau's tomb.... People leave all sorts of offerings to her....
This is a Creole neighborhood... Gwen said, you could always tell a Creole, from an American, by the brightly painted homes....
This is our tour guide, Gwen.... She was wonderful, and funny! She is sitting in the Voo Doo Priestess' chair... Gwen warned us, as we were standing in front of the Police station... There is one thing, you absolutely, never, ever, ever do, while in New Orleans... "Diet"... O.K.! I'm all over that!
